Say hello to our latest work experience students, Ava and Danny! The pair spent a whole week getting to grips with HUB’s creative services across photography and digital design, learning how to work across several different briefs and what really makes a visual piece of work *pop*.
Ava
Why did you choose to intern at HUB?
I chose to intern at HUB because I study Media and Photography at A-Level and was interested in the careers I could pursue, as well as what happens behind the scenes of shoots and the editing process.
What were you most excited about?
I was definitely most excited about seeing HUB Studios, as I was interested in seeing how the set is created, how lights are used to set the scene and how camera angles are used.
What do you think of HUB’s culture?
The staff were very welcoming and kind. I was introduced to most people, gained insight into their work, and they included me in helping with shoots and Photoshop editing, which helped me understand the process. We even had a movie night with pizza and popcorn!
Has anything surprised you while you’ve been here?
I was surprised by the amount of work put into the photos and videos during the shooting process and afterward during editing.
What will you take away from the experience?
From this experience, I will take away a clear understanding of the effort and teamwork required for projects to allow them to create the best product and how every small detail I hadn’t considered is very important for the final product to be perfect.
Danny
Why did you choose to intern at HUB?
I chose to intern at HUB because I wanted to experience being part of a team in a marketing agency. HUB also stood out to me as I am interested in their creative work.
What were you most excited about?
I was excited to learn about the processes involved in creating advertisements and using some of the specialised equipment in order to create this work. It was interesting being part of these processes at HUB.
What do you think of HUB’s culture?
The environment at HUB is warm, relaxing and welcoming. It was easy for me to fit in and become a part of the creative team because the people are so inviting and kind.
Has anything surprised you while you’ve been here?
I was surprised by how many steps are necessary to create the perfect image during photoshoots. I enjoyed learning these processes and even using equipment like lights to create a nice image.
What will you take away from the experience?
From this experience, I learnt how important effective teamwork is to produce the best looking products during photoshoots. This experience has given me a clear understanding of how to work effectively.
